WELLMARK SHOULD SHARE BLUE ZONE WINDFALL PROFITS WITH CUSTOMERS

3-15-16

Greetings,  Cedar Rapids Mayor, Ron Corbett, Council Members, Wellmark Officers, Gazette Editorial Board and all—

Corbett's quote in the 2-27-16 Gazette stated, 'As the largest community in Iowa to undertake this (Blue Zones)  project, we are proud of the broad based and comprehensive progress we've made toward healthy living as a way of life,' Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett said in a statement.

The 9-18-16 Gazette editorial also lauded participation in Blue Zones.  But neither Corbett nor the Gazette said anything about Wellmark returning any of the huge profit windfall it will realize as a result of its insured customers spending their money, effort and time to improve their health.  The results would increase Wellmark profits—at little or no cost to Wellmark.   It is fair for Wellmark to return all windfall profits to those producing them!!

Will Corbett and the Gazette please ask Wellmark officers to do so—and then report their responses to the public, just as you touted participation in Wellmark Blue Zones?

Iowalive website http://www.iowalive.net/wellmarkshouldsharewindfall.htm   shows that if Wellmark was honestly concerned about insured customer’s health, it would cut its premiums by 20% for participants in Blue Zones—to reach 50% participation levels and to share the 15% reduction in Wellmark costs produced by Blue Zone participants.  Numbers were derived using Iowalive’s proprietary algorithms, data base and information sources.  Anyone claiming to have  better numbers is asked to provide them.

Please forward this post to the following Wellmark  OFFICERS, whose email addresses are for some reason unavailable, who can decide on lowering premiums for Cedar Rapids, and other BLUE ZONE participants.  Officers can also be reached at these FREE phone numbers, by BLUE ZONE customers from these cities, who are interested in Wellmark lowering insurance premiums—to be fair.
