UNION PUSHED WASHINGTON, IA MODINE PLANT TO MEXICO

6-17-16

Greetings, George Ford, Gazette Business and all—

George, please forward this email to Bodine officials, for comparison with their analysis.

Your 360 word article in the 6-17-16 Gazette reported Modine is closing its Washington, Iowa plant and roughly 85 percent of the work will go to a Modine plant in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

The following table shows the contributors to the closing.    If the union had been voted out 2 years ago could the plant have continued profitable operations?  The answer is definitely YES!   Integrity Index Scores for the workers and management show they could have worked things out except for union interference.  Unions should be formed only in times of worker crisis and then leave when the crisis is resolved, within about 1 year.

Elimination of interdependencies shows the actual culprits for the closure and this includes public school inefficiency.   This contributor negatively impacted plant profits by about 1%.  Not much you say, but it all added up to closure—and increasing profits by just 1% isn’t easy.  The table is unique because it eliminates interdependencies.   This pins the tail on the right donkeys.

See Washington school district reading etc. rankings linked on  http://www.iowalive.net/cluelessk-12standards.htm

How much effort by the closing contributors was made to keep the plant open?  Who was in charge of it?  Where was their plan? What are the lessons learned?  Will the Gazette report them?  When?
