ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OVERHAUL AT UNIVERSITY OF IOWA!

4-26-17

Greetings, UI President Mr. Bruce Harreld and alló

Was exciting to read Gazette Reporter Vanesa Millerís 635 word, 4-26-17 article about the upcoming organizational performance overhaul at UI.  It contains substance, rather than the usual complaints from over paid, inefficient, misguided profs and their Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AAUP) ilk!!   That alone is encouraging!  http://www.iowalive.net/uibacklash.htm

But even more encouraging is the prospect of UI actually doing something productive about its performance and sound Strategic Plan to improve it!!    And website http://www.iowalive.net/uiperformancebenchmarks.htm posts the following two charts and much more, showing the dire need for the organizational overhaul.

And the Gazette article especially cited emphasis on the poorly performing College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, in red in both of the following tables!!

THE CARVER COLLEGE OF MEDICINE SHOWS WHAT A GOOD PERFORMING UI ORGANIZATION LOOKS LIKE

It should be the first at UI to reach 100% of the Best National University Level

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is hopeless and should be the first to be closed

UI COLLEGES AND ACADEMIC UNITS ARE LOSING GROUND COMPARED TO THE BEST NATIONAL UNIVERSITY LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE.   THOSE IN RED NEED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION--SUCH AS CLOSING & MERGING IA STUDENTS WITH ISU & UNI!!  Source:  Available Data Researched and Compiled by Iowalive Net Workers.  11-3-15, updated 3-20-17

It would cost at least $2.5 million to have academic performance measurement specialists prepare this table.

Anyone claiming to have better numbers is asked to provide them

THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY RED NUMBERS IN THIS TABLE

Derivation methods for operating efficiencies are posted on website:   http://www.iowalive.net/deriveopeff.htm

Integrity Index Score Derivation Methods are Posted on Website: http://www.iowalive.net/integrityderivation.htm

Correlation Coefficient for Integrity Index Score and Operating Efficiency is a Strong, Positive .96.  High Integrity People Despise Waste and Consider it Equivalent to Theft.

*Average on a scale of 0 to 1,000 tops, where significant integrity starts at 300, evil is at 250 and below.  Grand larceny scores 40.

It would cost at least $750,000 to have performance measurement specialists prepare this table for UI.

Anyone Claiming To Have Better Numbers Is Asked To Provide Them

Organizations undergoing major performance overhauls traditionally expect at least 30% improvement in performance.  Anything less is not deemed to be sufficient justification for such an extensive overhaul.  UI performance benchmarks are established and cited on website  http://www.iowalive.net/uiperformancebenchmarks.htm  for tracking and reporting progress.

Stay tuned!

Sincerely,
