CONVERTING UI OBSTACLES TO PROGRESS INTO BETTER PERFORMERS

9-4-15

Greetings, UI Foundation President Lynette Marshall, UI History Professor Katherine Tachau, Law Professor and Faculty Senate President Christina Bohannan and all—

It was interesting to read your concerns about Harreld and University of Iowa foundation money in today’s 9-4-15 Cedar Rapids Gazette. Your whining labeled each of you as obstacles to progress.

Check out the Performance Table below and seriously think about the impact a better performing university will have on donors.   They will think they are getting a good return on their donation rather than merely throwing it down the traditional UI rat hole.  They will contribute and laud Harreld for what he has accomplished!!!

Look through the universities’ organization charts and see all the vice presidents, assistants and associates listed and named.  Then ask yourself what are their beneficial contributions to the headers in the Performance Table?  It will follow that if you are  paying attention, you will soon be thinking like Harreld!!

When you really wise up, you will start helping him, rather than being obstacles to progress, as you and your pals are now.

You will find joy in meeting tough, measurable objectives that positively contribute to headers in the Performance Table—and make UI Greater as well.

Beyond that, Harreld will set the stage for business people becoming public school superintendents who graduate highly skilled students you will love to teach at the university!!
