THE TRUTH IN STATE BUDGET CUTS--NOT FAKE NEWS!!

2-25-17

Notice—Since the following post was written on 2-18--according to the Gazette, the 3 universities had further reductions-- an extra $1.2 million reduction for the University of Iowa (in addition to $8 million earlier); another nearly $1 million from Iowa State University (in addition to $8 million earlier); and another $522,500 from the University of Northern Iowa (in addition to $2 million earlier).  This is no big deal.   Based on the University of Iowa’s 2014 budget of $3,276,103,232,  the $1.2 million additional reduction amounts to only .04%.   The whining university spills this much without blinking.  WHINING UI PROF M. Greetings, Cedar Rapids Gazette & Des Moines Register Editorial Boards and all —

The Gazette & Register reported fake news reductions in budget increases as if they were budget cuts, as if you don’t know the difference.  Website http://www.iowalive.net/ipibbudgetcut.htm   provided compelling examples of the fake news you perpetrated on your readers.   Herein is more evidence of fake news you have foisted on your readers, including a $15,958 increase for community colleges that you called a cut!!

And Iowalive can’t find where you ever called 2017 school funding a $137,636,176  (4.7%) INCREASE, as it was!    So it appears you give fake news budget increases and fakes news cuts as well.  Show us if you have such numbers you have carried.

WHO IN THE SENATE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE GAVE YOU THESE NUMBERS

Was it Senator Jeff Danielson?

Iowalive might have cut you some slack had you honestly reported how and why Iowa got the lowest Student Proficiency Standard in the Midwest--and can’t meet it!!  And what it means to be a proficient 4th grade reader in Iowa.  So in addition to fake news commissions, you have mastered the trick of fake news omissions—by ignoring the truth, as if it doesn’t exist!!
