RAINFALL UP--TORNADOS DOWN IN IOWA IN 2010

LARGE NEWSPAPER EDITORS AND STATE CLIMATOLOGIST ARE STUMPED

The refuse to opine or comment!!

IOWALIVE'S EXPLANATION IS TOUGH FOR THEM TO SWALLOW

Iowalive announced in May that it was attempting to restore energy balance across the state and reduce tornado damage as a result.   Tornado data as of 8-31-10 shows it happened.  Updated:  1-14-11  Final 2010 data shows Iowa had only 33 tornados, down from an average of 47, and only two tornados were rated EF-2 strength or greater, per state climatologist report on website:  http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/dmx/2010%20Year%20in%20Review.pdf  This website also reported:

The statewide average precipitation for 2010 stands at a preliminary 44.68 inch total through December 27. This ranks second to only 1993 (48.22 inches) among 138 years of statewide records. Greatest totals fell over south central Iowa where some locations saw more than 60 inches of precipitation.

Despite the heavy rainfall and storms, there were 14 fewer than the average number of tornados!!  Climatologist Harry Hillaker will not attempt to explain why.

Monday’s 9-6-10 Gazette editorial gave the facts on increased Iowa rainfall and humidity—and surprisingly reduced tornados and damage in 2010.  But it failed to opine on what caused the stunning reduction in tornados and damage--despite much heavier than average rainfall in 2010.

Climatologist Harry Hillaker has yet to explain why as well.

Similarly, none of them have opined on why Minnesota had a stunning 122 tornados in 2010, along with heavier rainfall.

The following chart shows the ‘perplexing’ Iowa situation.

Is it possible the the experiment below explains what caused the stunning decline in tornados and tornado damage in Iowa?  If not, what was it?   Will any editors or climatologists try  to tell us that more heavy rains and thunderstorms don’t cause more tornados in Iowa—or that they cause fewer?

Must ‘bold’ touting journalists run to the “experts” and blindly parrot what they say—or run and hide under their desks?

Incidentally, the (iastatec@netins.net)  email address on the climatologist website is bogus.  Have any of you tried to find Iowa state annual rainfall amounts, or any similar avg.  statewide data, on that website?  Try finding the average state rainfall for 2009!   L

IOWA TORNADO DAMAGE REDUCTION EXPERIMENT

5-15-10

For quite some time Iowalive net workers have been researching and  trying to determine what causes Iowa tornadoes to descend the final 200 feet and strike the ground, causing extensive damage.    It is well known that tornado funnels hit and skip across Iowa--unlike straight-wind storms.    It is also known that identification of an actual tornado is not accurate, especially at night.  This often results, about 20% of the time, in damage caused by strong, straight or swirling winds--to be reported as tornadoes.  While this complicates determination of any factual reduction in tornado funnel damage, it does not prevent Iowalive networkers from conducting this experiment to reduce tornado damage in Iowa, this year.

Iowalive net workers have concluded it is an energy imbalance that causes tornado funnels to descend the final 200 feet and strike the ground.  The basis for the experiment is to eliminate energy level imbalances in Iowa.   It is believed, and hoped, that this has now been accomplished.

Any proven, substantial  tornado funnel ground strike will indicate either failure to balance the energy levels adequately, or that the cause of tornado ground strikes is not energy imbalances.

Please recognize that balancing energy levels across the entire state, and keeping them balanced, is not simple or easy, if doable at all.

Iowalive net workers are now looking for photos or videos of actual tornado funnel ground strikes, occurring the remainder of  this year--not only of possible damage after the fact.

They are also looking for the time Iowa tornado funnel warnings, and fears of tornadoes, have been eliminated.

More details on this experiment will be released in the fall, as appropriate.     However, they can be provided to requestors, for legitimate purposes, now.
