ACADEMIC RANKING OF IOWA'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS

2005-06 & 2006-07 Biennium

Data for the following rankings was obtained from the Department of Education report:  Student Achievement & Accountability (SF 476) 2008 Annual Reportwebsite: linked from website:  http://www.iowa.gov/educate/content/blogcategory/56/902/

The scores in the ranking are not adjusted for school cheating.  However, you can make your own cheating adjustments from the rankings and adjustment factors used on website:  http://www.iowalive.net/ranking8.htm

Iowa desperately needs quality control, such as that practiced by Iowa casinos, to put a stop to school cheating and to make State Department of Education reports worth reading.

2005-06 & 2006-07 Biennium Yearly Progress Report

Percentage of Students Proficient (Iowa School Districts)

Note:  341 schools, that test reading and math in both 4th & 8th grades, are ranked separately.  Note also the state average below shows a decline in 8th grade--which shows students have not really learned reading and math in lower grades.  This trend worsens through high school!
