DEFINITIONS

ACADEMIC CHILD ABUSE--PUBLIC SCHOOL FAILURE TO BRING IOWA STUDENTS TO IOWA GRADE LEVEL OR TO COMPETE  INTERNATIONALLY

CONSTRUCTIVIST—Anyone who believes free and reduced lunch, English language learners, minority, bored or mobile students etc., are flawed and cannot be taught.  Constructivists make excuses rather than improvement plans.  They also blame parents, who were educated in the public schools, for public school failures.

EDUCRATS—Teachers and administrators who are insecure control freaks, obsessed with money.   They comprise about 33% of Iowa’s teachers and school administrators, but they, along with constructivists, are in charge of the evil ISEA teacher’s union, Dept. of Education, State and local boards, and the legislature--and have wrecked public schools and wreak academic child abuse in Iowa.

TEACHERS—Educators who really care about the kids and suffer the turmoil, harm, student academic abuse and damage caused by constructivists and educrats—but can do nothing about it.

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES IN WEST DES MOINES—A private school operated by Judy Hintz, that routinely teaches “flawed” students and brings them up to Iowa grade level.  These are typical of the students public schools refuse to teach—and bogusly claim can’t be taught.

TOTAL COST PER STUDENT—According to the Legislative Fiscal Agency, the average total cost per Iowa student is now more than $14,500—not $9,455 as claimed elsewhere herein.

NAEP--National Assessment of Educational Progress--the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas.

PISA--Program for International Student Assessment--A program that tests students in about 60 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries --in math, reading and science.  The United States has fallen to barely above average in reading and science, and below average in math--as shown in chart farther below.

GLOBALLY COMPETITIVE--When Iowa schools adopt the 95th National Percentile Rank as the academic proficiency standard, and at least 25% of the students meet it--as they now do in countries out scoring the United States on the PISA test. .

IOWA UNIVERSITIES DON'T TEACH 5 ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS FOR TEACHING READING

The National Council on Teacher Quality Evaluation of Universities evaluated the following Iowa universities for their Reading Instruction Performance On Teaching Teachers the  FIVE ESSENTIAL SCIENTIFIC COMPONENTS FOR TEACHING READING.  Here is what they found, and it is all bad news!!

Buena Vista University—teaches 4 of 5

U of I—teaches 2 of 5

UNI—teaches 1 of 5

ISU and others were not evaluated, but are expected to be no different.

The entire National Council report can be found on website:  http://www.nctq.org/nctq/images/nctq_reading_study_app.pdf

No wonder universities don’t want to be evaluated.  Even worse, they want more funding if they have to determine and report their performance to the Board of Regents—which they should have been doing all along!!

Teachers taught in Iowa’s Universities are not taught how to teach reading—AND constructivist representatives and graduates of those universities, and others, will pollute and defeat Branstad’s Education Summit.

But he doesn't care, because he is focused on getting major property tax reductions for big businesses.  Watch how he gets them--by throwing more money at the evil teacher's union--in a special legislative session, after the Summit ends in a shower of baloney!!

THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY CONSTRUCTIVISTS SPEAKING AT EDUCATION SUMMIT

THE IOWA EDUCATION SUMMIT HAS NO MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES!!

BUT SHAMELESS SUMMIT OFFICIALS WILL CLAIM THEY WERE MET!!

An Iowalive search of the Education Summit website:  http://iowaeducation.iowa.gov/education-summit/  states no objectives to improve student achievement or anything.  It is all talk.

For example, "Summit speakers and panel participants will share their ideas for how to give all students a globally competitive education".   That's it.  That's the only thing cited that comes near to stating an objective.  It's a farce.

THAT’S WHY THE EVIL, CONSTRUCTIVIST ISEA TEACHER’S UNION IS NOT COMPLAINING--AND WHY IOWA ACADEMIC CHILD ABUSE WILL CONTINUE UNABATED

Iowalive Found No Evidence Any of the Speakers Have Significantly Improved Student Achievement

32 OF 64  EDUCATION SUMMIT SPEAKERS ARE CONSTRUCTIVISTS--WHO BELIEVE IOWA STUDENTS ARE FLAWED, NOT THE SCHOOLS.
