$1,000 BONUS AWARD TO C. R. POLK ELEMENTARY STAFF MEMBERS
Greetings, Cedar Rapids School Supt. David Benson, School Board, Polk Elementary Staff Still in the District, Executive Administrator to Superintendent/Board Secretary Ms. Laurel Day, and alló
Ms. Day, please forward this post to all school board members, administrators and those named in the following award certificate, who Iowalive understands remain in the district.
It was a joy for Iowalive networkers to prepare this post awarding the Polk Elementary Staff for its Outstanding Performance with poor and minority students, and other students as well!!!!
The following $1,000 award Certificate is long overdue to those who worked so hard and effectively in getting Polk Elementary off the NCLB School In Need of Assistance list. This accomplishment is especially commendable as it was done when all other schools in the district were either already on, or were going on, the dreaded academic failure list.
And it was so obvious an accomplishment there is no way the superintendent and school board were not aware of it. But they ignored it anyway, and made no recognition of it to anyone, much less the staff that did it.
It is strongly recommended that Supt. Benson sign the certificate and give it to the treasurer to distribute it, along with $1,000 dollar checks, to those named in the certificate and also to those who contributed to the outstanding accomplishment, but are no longer in the district, which knows who they are.
Polk Elementary had 88% of its students on Free or Reduced lunch and 60% were minorities, but those chronic school excuses did not stop the Polk staff from getting the school off the academic failure list. The Polk kids were served in a manner that will benefit them by at least a $160,000 increase in their lifetime earnings!! They learned both reading and math!!
