INTEGRITY RANKING OF 100 IOWA HOUSE LEGISLATORS

The following tables set an example for Iowa newspapers.  They are provided for awareness and to improve legislation in the Iowa House of Representatives.

The first table shows the actions that significantly impact a legislator's integrity level.   Iowalive challenges legislators who claim they have not taken any such actions.  We also challenge them to avoid taking such actions to raise their integrity levels--and to improve legislation as well.

Few legislators are significantly miss-using campaign funds.   The consequences and likelihood of being caught if doing so, have obviously limited such behavior.  The consequences and likelihood of being caught should be raised for the other actions listed as well.

The second table provides the integrity level ranking for all 100 Iowa house legislators--at no charge to anyone.  It is estimated to cost at least $250,000 to have qualified professionals prepare a comparable table.

For comparison with levels in the table, Governor Branstad's Integrity Index Level is 550.   There is no way he can fairly or effectively negotiate with any legislators having integrity levels shown in red in the table.    He can either capitulate or ignore their demands.  Those in red should be excluded from House leadership positions.

Iowalive challenges newspapers and other media to improve their integrity and at least show some interest in investigating and reporting legislator's and legislation integrity levels.  This especially applies to the Des Moines Register and Cedar Rapids Gazette, whose integrity levels are 70 and 120, respectively, as posted on website http://www.iowalive.net/daily%20newspaper%20ranking.htm  along with other Iowa dailies.

ACTIONS THAT IMPACT LEGISLATOR'S INTEGRITY LEVELS

SIGNIFICANT ACTIONS CONTRIBUTING TO LOW INTEGRITY LEVELS.   AVOIDING SUCH ACTIONS RAISES INTEGRITY LEVELS.
SIGNIFICANT ACTIONS CONTRIBUTING TO LOW INTEGRITY INDEX LEVELS OF IOWA STATE LEGISLATORS *OCCURRENCE/SIGNIFICANCE, ON SCALE OF 1 TO 10 TOPS
MISS-USING OR DISTORTING FACTS 10
TELLING UNTRUTHS 9
ABUSING POWER 8
SELLING OUT TO SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS  7
PREVENTING OR OBSTRUCTING VOTES ON CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES 6

SOLICITING PUBLIC INPUT AND THEN IGNORING IT WHEN RECEIVED.  THIS INCLUDES FAILURE TO TIE AGENCY OR SCHOOL FUNDING ETC.,  TO MEASURABLE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT EXPECTATIONS 4
ACCEPTING CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FROM OUT-OF-STATE, SPECIAL INTEREST CONTRIBUTORS 3
CUTTING 'BIPARTISAN' DEALS TO BENEFIT  LABOR UNIONS AND BUSINESSES ETC., AT THE EXPENSE OF THE PEOPLE. 2
MISS-USING CAMPAIGN FUNDS 1
* Occurrence is Combined with Significance to Place Both in Better Perspective.  It Prevents a Single, Exceptionally Evil Act From Transcending a Multitude, or Combination, of Less Evil Acts.
Anyone Claiming to Have Better Numbers is Asked to Provide Them.

Algorithms and database used in deriving the following numbers are proprietary to Iowalive net workers.

People routinely assess the integrity levels of those they are dealing with.  The government routinely makes such assessments of people seeking security clearances.  Iowalive merely uses numbers to show the results of the assessments—and asks for anyone claiming to have better numbers, to  provide them.  People can then decide whose numbers to believe.
