CEDAR RAPIDS  ASSOCIATE  SUPT. EDU SPEAKS OF SCHOOL HOBBY IN GAZETTE

2-22-16

Greetings, Trace Pickering, Associate Superintendent for the Cedar Rapids School District, Supt. Brad Buck and all—

Ms. Day, please forward this post to the school board and all Cedar Rapids school district administrators.  Thank you very much!!

Assoc. Supt. Pickering’s 600 word  guest column in Sunday’s 2-21-16 Gazette was all Edu speak, most likely approved by Supt. Buck--and the Gazette blindly carried it.

For example, Pickering wrote, “The Kenwood Leadership Academy will focus on developing leadership skills in students and staff. By developing personal and community leadership skills, KLA students will become strong owners of their learning and future, helping improve their academic achievement as well.”

Typical of Edu speak, Pickering cited NO:

1.   Performance measures to determine KLA progress, success or failure

2.   Milestones to show progress or the lack of it

3.   Measurable results expectations--numbers

4.   Name of the person in charge

5.   Costs involved

6.   Recovery plan for the students if KLA fails

When Pickering completely ignores the above he is touting a hobby.  It’s pleasurable talk, activities and no results measures, expectations or accountability.

And taxpayers compensate Pickering with at least $145,000 salary plus at least $29,000 fringe benefits for a total of $174,000—for such irresponsible Edu speak babble.

INTEGRITY INDEX SCORES DEPICT FAILURES

Iowalive has evaluated KLA’s overall Integrity Index Score as 50 on a scale of 0 to 1,000  tops, using methods posted on website:  http://www.iowalive.net/integrityderivation.htm , where significant integrity starts at 300, evil is at 250 and below.  Grand larceny scores 40.

Similarly, Integrity Index scores for Johnson STEAM Academy and Magnet schools Pickering cited are 60  and 65 respectively.  Same ol’, same ol’!

OTHER CEDAR RAPIDS SCHOOL DISTRICT FAILURES

The following websites present more compelling evidence of Cedar Rapids School District Failures—and no plans to fix them.

A terrible failure was closing Polk Elementary for improving poor and minority student achievement and getting off the In Need of Assistance List for academic failures.  If left open, it would have been the only school in the district NOT on the In Need of Assistance List for academic failures.  The Polk staff had a superior improvement plan and successfully implemented it!  Polk had the highest percentage of poor and minority students in the district!!!

It had to be closed to protect Iowa school officials, and the ISEA teacher's union, who are falsely blaming poor and minority students for school academic failures--statewide.
