GAZETTE'S DUH-DORMAN NEEDS A LAP TALK!
Greetings, Gazette Editorial Board—
Duh-Dorman’s Gazette columns have deteriorated from advocating homosexual sex he won’t describe, to claiming 100% flood protection when the Corps of Engineers clearly tells him it is only 91%. Duh!
Now Duh is taking the Corps to task claiming the 1970s climate data, Corps Engineers used in their calculations, should be changed to show more flood damage will occur in the disastrous Cedar Rapids flood plains than the Corps calculated. Duh-Dorman is using half vast logic in a vain attempt to concoct a scenario for getting flood damage a bit closer to the prohibitive cost of building levees and floodwalls.
Actually, 2011 climate data will more closely follow the flood crests in Iowalive’s updated chart below—showing a 44ft. crest in 2063. While Duh sees the increased flood damage costs of this, he fails to see the increased costs of building much higher levees and floodwalls—that prohibitively exceed flood damage costs.
Then Duh ends his phony column argument with this self-inflicted dope slap. “No system can provide zero risk!” The thought never occurred to Duh to vacate the disastrous Cedar Rapids flood plain—using system buy-outs offered to flood victims—to produce zero flood risk!!
Duh!
Sincerely,
