LETTER FROM IOWALIVE TO MR. MARK HANSON, PRESIDING ELCA BISHOP
6-19-09
Greetings, Mr. Mark Hanson, Presiding ELCA Bishop:
The 18,507 word, recommended ELCA social statement, Human Sexuality: Gift and Trust is on the agenda for approval or rejection at the ELCA Churchwide Assembly, Aug. 17-23, 2009 • Minneapolis Convention Center, Minneapolis, MN.
The lengthy social statement, which can be downloaded from

on
website:
http://www.elca.org/What-We-Believe/Social-Issues/Social-Statements-in-Process/JTF-Human-Sexuality.aspx
raises a vital question for you, as the Presiding ELCA Bishop, and for
homosexuals attending the Assembly, to descriptively answer--with respect to
consummating a homosexual marriage. The question is:
What homosexual sex act consummates a homosexual marriage, in equivalence to the heterosexual sex act that consummates the biblical heterosexual marriage?
Voting delegates at the Assembly must have your answer to that question to intelligently vote on the recommended social statement. That question, and the answer to it, clearly and succinctly define what the 18,507 word social statement is all about. Having that answer, there is no need for anyone to fully read it.
If you refuse to provide a definitive answer, Assembly voters should summarily reject the social statement on the first ballot.
Beyond that, the social statement’s Integrity Index Level, on a scale of 0 to 1,000, where significant integrity starts at 300, is a disappointing 240. The word, homosexual, appears but once in the statement. Homosexuality, appears but two times, yet that is the issue the social statement supposedly addressed.
Derivation of the Integrity Index Level is described on website: http://iowalive.net/ which is provided to the public at no cost by a growing network of volunteer citizens and professionals for improving Iowa. This post is now posted there. Your answer to the question will be posted when received,
Sincerely,
Iowalive A growing number of volunteer citizens and professionals for improving Iowa.
