Earnings increased 78% for the poor and by only18% for the middle class. Earnings of the rich rose 54% while lower middle and upper middle rose by 23% and 22% respectively. The multiplication factors for these earnings numbers/ratios are shown in the following chart. Earnings are wages and salaries and do not include government benefits, pensions and investment income. Earnings ratio (multiplication factor) = increase in earnings by Class divided by % increase in earnings of Middle Class. |
